USING MEDS "TOPICALLY"
A terrific lady in Australia emailed us this tip. She uses emu oil, but it's not necessary.
Before trying this method, I talked it over with our compounding pharmacist.
Naproxen (Aleve) ate a hole in my throat. (ulcerated esophagus)
Now I use this med topically. (on the skin)
This saves time, money, and my throat.
Generic Naproxen is best. Cheaper and less tough coating.
I grind the tablets to a fine powder in a coffee grinder. The result is not pure naproxen powder, which would be dangerously strong.
I mix the powder with plain hand lotion, (like gravy) in a small snap-top plastic cup.
It only requires 1/4 the amount of the med, because none is lost to digestion.
Wipe on stomach or ribs.
It works just as swallowing pills.
To determine the amount, I mixed some, then physically divided it by the number of tablets in it.
I also do this for Guaifenesin (expectorant).
Starting with powder is easiest, of course. (You can order Guaifenesin powder from Fludan in Canada, which is much easier.)
or
Tablets can be ground or
Capsules can be opened to use the powder.
This is simple, easy, and saves time and money. Lets you adjust the amounts of each med very slightly anytime, too.
I use this method for these two meds; ask a pharmacist about any others.
Many meds should not even be broken or crushed.
